Photo Examples
What makes a great photo for our process?
We don't accept AI‑generated images. When you order, you're supporting real human artists who hand‑draw your kit with care. Our talented team can add a bowtie, remove a harness, crop out people, or make other simple edits to match your vision.
You don't need professional photos, just clear, well-lit images. If you're unsure, you're more than welcome to upload multiple pictures of the pet and we will choose the one that works best.
What we prefer
Lighting: Natural light with minimal shadows so colors stay true. (think cloudy day lighting)
Angle: Get down to your pet's level. Avoid photos taken from above that make the head look detached. Include some of the body.
Clothing & accessories: We can simplify or remove collars, harnesses, bows, and leashes. Please note any changes in the special request box. Detailed/patterned accessories may be simplified during our process.
Humans: We can crop people out; ideally submit photos where the pet isn't being held.
Expression: Tongue out or closed-mouth, either works!
Cropping: No need to crop. We'll handle it.
Multiple pet paintings
For multiple pet canvases, it's best to submit great individual photos of each pet rather than one mediocre group shot. Gray Duck Art will place them onto the canvas so they look like they are all in one photo.
Have a picture that is totally different? No problem, we can make it happen! If for some reason we cannot, we will email back offering a refund or ask for different photos. All animals, bugs, rodents, etc. accepted.
