Paint Your Own Pet
Want to host an event? Info is located at grayduckart.com/host.
Please read through all of the directions and FAQs before sending in your photos.
1. Purchase your tickets
A list of all of our public classes is located at grayduckart.eventbrite.com
Note: TICKETS SELL FAST. If you find available tickets, buy them sooner rather than later.
Don't worry about bringing your actual ticket to class.
2. Submit your photos
Please send an email to class@grayduckart.com with a few photos of your furry friend, a description of your pet’s fur coloring, and a background color of choice. Please send ASAP, but no later than 3 WEEKS prior to your event. If you have a favorite, we will try to use that one, otherwise we will pick the easiest one for you to paint. Background colors can be found at the bottom of this page.
Feel free to reference our photo example page to see what works best!
Please send with your subject: Date / Location / Ticket Holder Name
Example: March 12 / Maple Island Brewing / Elizabeth Miller
3. The Event
Prior to class, we recommend watching our tips and tricks video so you feel super confident in the process! Our events are self-led. They are very similar to an adult coloring book. Once you arrive at class, you can jump right in and start painting! Your kit will include a table cloth to cover your work area, brushes, a custom set of acrylic paints, and a hand drawn paint by number on a 12x16 canvas. All kits are created by Minnesotan artists.
Some painters will finish their artwork within the class timeframe, but you can always take your paint and brushes home if you do not finish. These projects can easily turn into 4-6 hour projects. You can treat your event like a kick off to your paint by number or power through the whole thing at your event.
FAQS
1. Can I paint more than one animal on my painting?
Yes! There is a 2 pet painting option on our eventbrite tickets. Please specify that you would like TWO animals on one canvas when you submit your photos via email. And yes, you can send in individual headshots of each animal, even if you're doing two pets on one canvas. We are great at making them look like they are in the same photo.
2. Can kids paint?
A: YES! Kids can come paint their own canvas if they are 8 or older. They are more than welcome to paint with the help of an adult if they are younger than 8. This is just our recommendation, you know your kiddo better than us! Most of the breweries and locations we partner with allow kids, but please double check with the event host.
3. Can multiple people work on the same painting?
Please ask Maddy at maddy@grayduckart.com. Every event has a different amount of space, but typically yes, two people can work on one canvas.
4. Can I get a refund? I can't come to class anymore.
Unfortunately we cannot refund you because of the detailed work our artists do hand drawing canvases for every person who buys a ticket. With that said, we know life happens. Please email maddy@grayduckart.com if you cannot attend your event anymore, we can work with you to figure out a different event for you, or arrange a pick up.
5. I want the whole body in the photo, is that possible?
We do not recommend doing this because your painting will be more zoomed out, making the face smaller and much harder to paint. If you are very set on a full body picture, we can do it, but please make it very clear in your photo submission email.
6. I didn't finish my painting at class, now what?
Your paints are packaged for you and can be used anytime after class. Paints typically last about 8 weeks before drying out. Full disclosure… they will probably last more than 8 weeks, but that is what we guarantee. If they work to paint, they are still good. You will know if they are bad because they will be like dried chalk or like a hard plastic. If you need to order a new set, go to grayduckart.com/paint
